Blue Bayou.
Directed by Justin Chon, starring Chon and Alicia Vikander. After learning that he could be deported from the only home he’s ever known, Antonio LeBlanc (Chon) faces ghosts from his past and forces beyond his control in his present. Vikander turns a beautiful performance (her singing of Blue Bayou is worth the film alone) and Chon is masterful in both his direction and acting. It does reach an emotional boiling point, so be prepared for tears. Shot in 66mm, the feel of the movie is just as raw but beautiful as the message at its core.

I’m Your Man.
Directed by Maria Schrader, starring Maren Eggert and Dan Stevens. In order to obtain funds for her research, Alma (Eggert) is persuaded to participate in an extraordinary study. For three weeks she is required to live with Tom (Stevens), a humanoid robot designed to be the perfect life partner for her, tailored to her character and needs. This film goes beyond a simple romance and posits important questions about love. It nicely dances between being playful and serious in its thoughts about relationships and human needs.
Subtitled in German. Available now on Netflix.
